Challenge
Process before implementing magicplan
Before implementing magicplan, the process included the following elements during customer meetings and site visits:
Clutter during customer meetings with paper files (several at a time), measurement tools, notebook
Measurements made with a tape measure and/or rangefinder and a sheet of paper
Obligation to return to the office to carry out an additional, “clean” version of the plan
Drawing of the plan with ruler and pencil
Photos taken with a phone or camera, which had to be transferred to the computer
Photos not related to the plan and the room concerned
Difficulty finding the right photos for each file because of the quantity
Sometimes lack of precision in the notes because it is complicated to note on the sketches and without associated photo which really represents the reality
Solution
Using magicplan on site
Dorian Violleau holds the position of Digital Integration Manager within the Cassous Group. His responsibilities include:
Studying the various functional solutions and specific needs of subsidiaries and more specifically, integrated companies
Writing expressions of needs
Providing the functional elements to allow the realization of the projects
Training business employees in best practices and new features
Accompanying the business collaborators during the deployment phases
Communicating on software developments to the business lines
magicplan is used by 60 employees in two subsidiaries: Coren Rénovation and Temsol.
4,388 projects have been created on the application since its launch, including 1,013 this year.
magicplan was discovered by monitoring different tools. Conventional tools were considered powerful but too heavy for the group’s needs. The objective was to save time on a daily basis.
Regarding first impressions:
“The tool was really innovative compared to the competition.”
“This is a very advanced tool, technologically speaking but within everyone’s reach.”
Learning and onboarding:
“magicplan is very quick to learn!”
“I carry out a 2-hour training course for each new employee, which is enough.”
“After all, nothing replaces the hands-on practice onsite.”
Results
Daily workflows and client process
The process for working with a client includes:
Receiving client consultation request
Appointment booking on site
Visit + Measurements + Plan + Report (magicplan is involved here)
Study based on measurements taken (magicplan is involved here)
Sending the estimate to the prospect / client
Work planning
Reception and invoicing of the work
During meetings with customers, engineers draw up their plans directly on the future site. The measurements taken with magicplan allow the realization of a project and the creation of the estimate, which is sent from an internal software.
The main benefit identified is the ability to have all elements merged together, including geolocation, plans, annotated photos, and notes. This allows the generation of a report with one click.
All plans are synchronized to the Cloud for more security.
Outlook
How magicplan is described and used going forward
What is valued about magicplan includes the user-friendliness of the tool, the quick learning curve for employees, and the availability of advanced options when site conditions require them. Slightly more basic options, such as 2D plans, are also described as useful.
Favorite feature:
LiDAR technology for measuring parts in augmented reality and the reliability of the information measured thanks to the pairing with lasers.
When asked to describe magicplan in one word, Dorian’s response was: “Innovative”
