Catch up on a job

Know where a job stands before the call starts.

Project summary 📝

/magicplan-project-summary

A plain-language brief on any job, ready for a homeowner call, a crew update, an email, or the adjuster.

Try saying: "Catch me up on the Barbaro water loss before my homeowner call."

What it does: Reads the whole project (rooms, affected areas, measurements, what's documented) and turns it into the summary you need, while flagging what's missing.

Prove the documentation

Make sure your documentation tells the whole story.

Drying report 💧

/magicplan-drying-report

Your moisture readings, turned into a room-by-room drying report.

Try saying: "Build a drying report for file #8554101"

What it does: Pulls your moisture and atmospheric readings into a clear progress report, tells you where you're at against dry standard, and flags any gaps. Follows IICRC S500.

Photo review 📸

/magicplan-photo-review

Catch the missing photos before you send the file, not after.

Try saying: "Which rooms are missing photos on the Miller job?"

What it does: Checks your photo coverage room by room, matches shots to the rooms and affected areas they document, and tells you exactly what to capture next.

Get the file paid

Walk into the carrier with the record already on your side.

Mitigation scope 📋

/magicplan-mitigation-scope

A loss turned into an itemized scope, in your own codes.

Try saying: "Build a mitigation scope for Stanton Close."

What it does: Reviews project measurements, affected areas, and existing documentation to help build an itemized mitigation scope. Suggests Xactimate® line items from your workspace library, identifies missing details, and helps you review quantities and locations before saving.

Adjuster handoff 📧

/magicplan-adjuster-handoff

The whole job, packaged into a clean, carrier-ready handoff.

Try saying: "Prepare the Miller fire loss for the adjuster."

What it does: Pulls the job into a neutral handoff (the affected areas, what's documented, where the estimate stands) and lays out the open questions, so nothing's left to chase.

See across every job without opening them one by one.

Workspace report 📊

Estimate status ☑️

/magicplan-estimate-status

See what's drafted, sent, waiting, or still missing.

FAQs

Questions people ask

What's the magicplan MCP, in plain terms?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It's what connects your magicplan workspace to AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude, so they can work with your actual project information. Normally, your AI assistant doesn't know anything about your jobs. It can't see your floor plans, measurements, moisture readings, photos, or estimates. The magicplan MCP changes that. Once connected, your assistant can pull information directly from your projects and use it to help with everyday restoration work. Ask it to summarize a water loss, review drying progress, find missing documentation, prepare a mitigation scope, or check which estimates are still in draft. And it goes beyond reading information. Your assistant can also help create and update scopes of work, manage contents inventories, and upload photos directly to magicplan. Think of it as giving your AI assistant access to the job information your crew already captured, so you can spend less time digging through files and more time getting work done.

How do I connect magicplan to ChatGPT or Claude?

Getting started is pretty straightforward. You don't need to install separate skills or set up anything complicated. Start by opening the magicplan plugin in ChatGPT or Claude and follow the steps to connect your workspace. During setup, you'll need your workspace's Customer ID and API key. You can find both under API & Integrations in your magicplan workspace settings. If you don't have access, ask your workspace administrator. Once connected, you're ready to go. The magicplan skills are already included in the plugins, so there's nothing else to download or install. Open a conversation, mention magicplan, and tell your assistant what you need. For example, "Use magicplan to summarize the Miller water loss and tell me what's missing from the documentation." Your assistant can now work with the project information in your connected workspace.

Can I use magicplan with other AI assistants?

Yes! magicplan works with ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI assistants that support MCP. If you're using ChatGPT or Claude, it's easy. Just connect your magicplan workspace, and all seven restoration skills are already included. No extra downloads or setup needed. Using another AI assistant? You can still connect it to magicplan through MCP. You may need to download and install the skills separately, depending on which assistant you use. The difference is simple: MCP connects your AI assistant to your magicplan projects, while the skills help it handle specific restoration tasks, like creating drying reports or preparing mitigation scopes. Is my data safe? Can this modify my project data?

The magicplan connection uses your workspace's Customer ID and API key to authorize access. Your API key is entered on the magicplan authorization page and isn't shared with your AI assistant. Connecting magicplan also doesn't give magicplan access to your entire AI conversation or chat history. We only receive the individual requests needed to complete a task, along with any relevant information included in those requests. As for your projects, yes, the MCP supports making changes to certain records in magicplan. Your assistant can help create and update scopes of work, add or edit contents inventory items, upload photos, and perform other supported actions. You should always review proposed changes before asking your assistant to save them. Some assistants may also ask you to confirm actions, depending on their settings. For business use, we recommend reviewing your AI provider's privacy and data controls and making sure your account follows your company's security requirements, including model-training and data-sharing settings where applicable.

What does this cost?

The magicplan MCP is included with your magicplan PRO subscription at no additional cost. If you're already a PRO user, you can connect your workspace to a compatible AI assistant without paying anything extra to magicplan. To get started, you'll need your workspace's Customer ID and API key, along with an AI assistant like ChatGPT or Claude. Keep in mind that ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI assistants have their own subscription plans. Depending on the assistant you use, access to certain features may require a paid subscription. The seven restoration skills are already included in the magicplan plugins for ChatGPT and Claude, so there's nothing extra to purchase or download.

How is this different from the reports magicplan already makes?

magicplan already lets you generate reports with floor plans, measurements, photos, notes, and other project documentation in a consistent format. Those reports are great when you need a complete record of what's been captured on site. The AI skills serve a different purpose. Instead of generating the same report format every time, you can ask for exactly the information you need, organized around a specific task or question. For example, before calling a homeowner, you could ask your assistant to summarize the latest project activity. Before sending a file to an adjuster, you could ask it to review the photos, moisture readings, and affected areas to identify gaps in the documentation. Or, if you're managing several jobs, you could ask which projects haven't been updated in the last two weeks. Your assistant can look across the available project information, focus on what's relevant, and put together an answer for the situation you're dealing with. And because the magicplan MCP supports more than reporting, your assistant can also help with tasks like preparing and updating scopes of work or managing contents inventories. It doesn't replace magicplan's existing reports. It gives you another way to work with the information you've already captured, especially when you need something more specific than a standard report.

Do I have to ask in a special way?

Not at all. You don't need to learn special commands, write complicated prompts, or know anything about MCP to get started. Just ask your AI assistant what you need, the same way you'd ask someone on your team. You could say, "Catch me up on the Miller water loss before my homeowner call," "Build a drying report for project #8554101," or "Which jobs haven't been updated in two weeks?" If you're using ChatGPT or Claude, mention magicplan in your request or select the plugin so your assistant knows where to look. The more specific you are, the more useful the result will be. Including a project name, job number, or what you plan to do with the information helps your assistant focus on the right details. And if something is missing, your assistant can ask follow-up questions before continuing. For tasks that involve updating project data, such as preparing a mitigation scope, you can also ask it to show you the proposed changes before saving anything. No special language required. Just tell it what you're trying to get done.
