Challenge
Working with pen and paper for property surveys
Before using magicplan, SKP Immobilien worked very traditionally, using pen and paper for property surveys and floor plan creation. This approach required manual drawing and later processing, which made post-processing slower and less secure. Customers had to wait one to two weeks to see initial results, and plans could not be easily discussed on site.
Solution
Using magicplan for on-site residential area calculation
SKP Immobilien has been using magicplan for over 10 years to meet the needs of its customers. The company uses magicplan to create architecturally approximate floor plans with precise dimensions during on-site property surveys.
Employees pack a laser meter and a tablet with magicplan and measure each room using the laser. The rooms are assembled using a building-block system directly on site. Doors and windows are included during the same process, and the floor plan is completed before leaving the appointment.
The plan is discussed with the customer on site and then immediately sent to the office, where other experts can continue working with it. SKP Immobilien also provides clients with versions of floor plans both with and without dimensions. The version without dimensions can be used by real estate agents for advertisements and property websites.
magicplan is taught internally. It takes about two weeks of continuous use to understand and apply the basic features properly. From the first month, employees were able to produce between 25 and 50 floor plans and property surveys per workspace member.
Results
Time savings and customer feedback
Using magicplan results in approximately 50% project-related time savings compared to using pen and paper. The digital creation of floor plans makes post-processing much faster.
Customers respond very positively because they can see the actual condition of the property on site and do not have to wait one to two weeks for initial results. Employees can immediately discuss deviations and details with customers during the appointment, which is extremely well received and sets SKP Immobilien apart from competitors.
On average, a trained employee needs about 30 minutes for 100 square meters. This time includes doors and windows, and employees do not leave the appointment until the floor plan is completed.
Outlook
Continued use of magicplan in daily operations
magicplan remains a core tool for SKP Immobilien. The company values the speed of the application, the lock function, and the ability to generate PDF and DXF files. While the cloud is not used in daily business, it is accessed when employees are on vacation or when older plans need to be retrieved by the office. Access rights can be assigned by employee, making plan management easier.
SKP Immobilien continues to use magicplan as part of its focus on residential area calculation and floor plan drawing across Germany.
