Hand sketching and fragmented estimating workflows
Before using magicplan, Crown Restoration relied on a mix of tools to create estimates. Jeremy explains that he resisted using some of the most common estimating software in the restoration industry and instead helped develop and adapt a painting software to meet restoration needs.
Despite this, the company was still using hand sketching to create floor plans. This involved sketching on paper, bringing the sketches back to the office, and entering the information into their system. Jeremy describes this process as aggravating and time consuming.

Jeremy explains that one of the biggest benefits is the ability to create custom price lists tailored to the way the company works. Instead of relying on thousands of predefined line items, Crown Restoration created a smaller, customized list that reflects its services and measurement methods.
magicplan’s intuitive design made it easy to use independently and easy to teach to others. According to Jeremy, anyone with basic technological understanding is able to handle the sketching process. He also highlights AI recognition as a key feature, noting that doors and windows are added automatically during sketching.
In the video walkthrough, Jeremy explains that magicplan’s sketching and estimating tools work together, allowing invoices to be created directly on the job site and used for billing.

Time savings during restoration jobs
Jeremy estimates that using magicplan for sketching and estimating saves Crown Restoration between 30 minutes and one hour per job, depending on the size of the project and the skill level of the user.
“With the way that we’re using magicplan now for sketching and estimating, it saves a good thirty minutes to an hour on the job, depending on the skill level of the user and how big the job is.”
He also explains that being able to reuse the floor plan for additional purposes saves processing time and cost.
“Being able to do that in magicplan gives us the ability to save around $10.00 per job, just in processing and then the time that we save.”
Outlook
Recommending magicplan to other restoration companies
Jeremy says he would recommend magicplan to other businesses, especially those that are not required to use standard vendor software.
“Absolutely!”
He also encourages businesses to experiment with magicplan, starting with sketching and then building on estimating features over time.
