Coordinating multi-trade renovation estimates slowed down projects
B&O is one of the biggest renovation and maintenance companies in Germany. With more than 2,000 craftsmen, B&O maintains over 600,000 apartments and finishes more than 40,000 renovation projects per year. The company operates at over 30 locations across Germany and is on a mission to maintain and create affordable housing.
Before integrating magicplan, B&O customers had to get quotations from different specialist craftsmen. Taking the renovation of a bathroom as an example, an installer had to draw up the cost estimate for the washbasin, a tiler for the tiles, and an electrician for all sockets and electrical lines.
For B&O, a lot of time passed before all the cost estimates were collected and combined. This slowed down the renovation process significantly and proved to be highly ineffective. As a result, customers also had to wait much longer for their renovated homes.
Solution
Creating complete renovation estimates on site with one digital workflow
B&O integrated the floor plan app magicplan into its workflow. With magicplan, B&O craftsmen were able to create cost estimates directly on site for all trades, completely digital and fully automated.
During the first site visit, craftsmen create floor plans on the spot. Based on the floor plan, the app calculates the required materials and costs for the renovation project.
Using the bathroom renovation as an example, once the craftsman creates the floor plan with magicplan, he selects the washbasin to be installed within the app. He then uses magicplan to calculate how many tiles are needed based on the floor plan data. The app automatically adds work steps such as installing the underlayment.
Next, the craftsman enters all sockets into the floor plan and marks those that are to be replaced. With this process, he creates a cost estimate for all trades on his own and orders the required materials directly on site.

Today, B&O employees use magicplan every day to create complete quotations and order materials directly on site. This has significantly streamlined the renovation process across projects.
By using magicplan, B&O is on track to getting projects approved within 45 minutes. Before using the app, the approval process could take up to three weeks. The time savings for B&O are substantial and help projects move forward much faster.
